K KANGSAR POLLS Dr Mahathir Mohamad has defended his move to amend the federal constitution in 1983 to take away the rulers' power to block legislation passed by Parliament.

The former premier said the government then had perceived the rulers to be problematic, but now it appears the present government the one which is problematic.
