Former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has hit out at fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin for a series of blog entries linking him to an alleged affair with a married woman.

"The wild accusations made against me by Raja Petra Kamaruddin in a series of entries in his blog Malaysia Today several days ago are totally unfounded and ill-intentioned.

“All the allegations are malicious slander and spread only to destroy my integrity and smells of dirty politics, what more being done in this holy month of Ramadan," Muhyiddin said in a statement.

The former DPM added that in this holy month of forgiveness and blessings, those who have slandered him should take stock of themselves and pray that their sins be forgiven.

"If they are aware of their offence, they should ask for forgiveness," he said.

The Pagoh MP believes that all the accusations against him are intended to tarnish his reputation, now that he is no longer a cabinet member and is vocally speaking up for the truth.

"God's test for me this Ramadan is very grave. I must maintain calm, be patient and pray that God ease all of our affairs," said Muhyiddin.

The former deputy premier had featured prominently in several recent blog posts by Raja Petra, commonly referred to by his initials of RPK, detailing the alleged affair and other supposed indiscretions.
