PKR today lodged a report at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Hasan Arifin, after alleging that he had profited by more than RM321,000 in a land purchase deal below market value.
PKR Youth information chief Lee Chean Chung said Hasan (photo) should take a sabbatical during the on-going investigation, as it involves the integrity of PAC.
He also hoped that the investigation can be concluded before MACC chief commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed’s tenure ends.
“As this is a high- profile case that involves the PAC chairperson, I hope the investigation can be conducted speedily, during his (Abu Kassim's) tenure,” Lee, who is also the Semambu assemblyperson, told reporters at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
It was reported earlier today that Abu Kassim's last day will be on Aug 1, 2016.
Lee made his allegations on June 16, but Hasan has yet to issue an official reply.
Malaysiakini once again attempted to contact Hasan today, but its subsequent calls and text messages ended without a response.
Lee had alleged that it all started in 1997, when the Pahang state government approved the sale of a 141,000 sq ft piece of land in Mukim Kuala Kuantan to a private firm.
Hasan was at the time the Pahang deputy menteri besar, he said.
