PSM central working committee member S Arutchelvan has mooted the idea of a grand coalition encompassing workers' unions, NGOs and various associations to face the next general election together.

Otherwise, he warned that everyone will lose in the next polls with the current situation of the country.

"I mooted the formation of a grand coalition that includes workers' unions, NGOs, associations of fishermen, farmers, students and others, who have a clear programme and position on the country's main issues such as an Islamic country and so on," he said in a Facebook post today.

He was referring to remarks he made last night in a forum titled 'Amanah: Boon or Bane?', where he said that Amanah was not the problem; instead it was the entire Pakatan Harapan.

While the other panellists in the forum expressed cautious hope and optimism, Arutchelvan pointed out that Pakatan Harapan has not been completely united since its formation.

"There was no political maturity (from the parties) to save Pakatan Rakyat, which was liked by the rakyat.

"Pakatan Harapan is not ready to give hope to the people. The momentum of the people is not with us because we're not united," he said in the forum last night.

In order to form the grand coalition, he said that it would require a leadership that is generous, mature and possessing foresight.
