Here are the key headlines from yesterday you may have missed, in brief.
Violence in the streets of KL
The country was rocked by yet another assassination in broad daylight after a real estate agent was shot dead while in her vehicle at Taman OUG, Kuala Lumpur.
The victim's five children and maid were in the car. Her eight-year-old daughter was also injured and is in critical condition.
A different kind of violence also plagued Kuala Lumpur as a video showing a mob attacking a senior citizen and his car after a minor accident at a Ramadan bazaar went viral on the Internet.
Eye on terror
Meanwhile, attention is also on terrorism after it was confirmed that the grenade attack last Tuesday was linked to elements connected to the Islamic State (IS).
This prompted Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Defence Forces chief Zulkifeli Mohd Zin to urged the public to assist the authorities in the fight against militancy.
However, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said he had no regrets in taunting overseas Malaysian IS members to "come back if you dare". He made the remarks four days before a grenade was thrown into a crowd at a nightspot in Puchong.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed concern that IS' influence may be strongest in universities, while Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said strategies are being drawn to keep youths away from extremism.
Global terror rages on
Elsewhere in the world, a number of Muslim countries were targeted by IS in the holy month of Ramadan – Turkey, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
Bangladesh is reeling from a terror attack at a restaurant in Dhaka which led to the death of 20 people as reports emerged that authorities were slow to act on early warnings and also accidentally killed a hostage during the incident.
One of the militants' father was in shock that his son would abandon his life in an upscale neighbourhood to take up arms for IS.
Meanwhile, an apparent jihadist video emerged threatening more attacks in Bangladesh.
In Saudi Arabia, a mother was murdered when she tried to stop her twin sons from joining IS, sparking a debate in the country.
Saudi King Salman vowed to combat IS with an "iron hand" following triple bombings in the country, including the holy city of Medina.
