Now that we know, kudos to Ambrin for a job well done

YOURSAY | ‘At least, there are still some integrity left in some of our government agencies.’

After leak, Najib must now declassify 1MDB audit report - Pua

Dumbanddumber: First and foremost, if indeed Sarawak Report is accurate, the Auditor-General’s Office should be commended highly for displaying such independence and professionalism.

The rakyat are grateful that at least there are still some integrity left in some of our government agencies.

Congratulation to the Auditor-General’s Office and many thanks to Sarawak Report. The nation must be saved from selfish and greedy leaders.

Negarawan: Ironically, the very act of classifying the auditor-general’s report under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) is an act of corruption. Concealing corruption and malfeasance from the rakyat is a gross abuse of the OSA.

This is why Sarawak Report has no qualms about releasing information from the auditor-general’s report because it is totally unacceptable in international law to conceal acts of corruption and wrongdoing by any government.

FellowMalaysian: Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua has been unable to disclose the contents of the Auditor-General's Report on 1MDB as the report was sealed under the OSA by PM Najib Razak.

Now thanks to the intrepid actions of Sarawak Report, we know the many deceitful and dubious transfer of funds, payments and investments transactions collectively totalling US$6.9 billion, which 1MDB has allegedly grossly mismanaged or misappropriated.

Owing to some hideous and dishonest reasons best known to the stakeholders in the PM's Department and Finance Ministry, their action in proscribing Malaysians like Pua from quoting the audit report has just made the country and its government a laughing stock to the rest of the world.

Cogito Ergo Sum: Pua, this is a damn good argument for the government to declassify the auditor-general’s report – to put a stop to all the speculation and conjectures.

Saying that the report published by Sarawak Report is doctored is not good enough. In the report, the auditor-general expressed frustration at the replies given by the 1MDB board.

In fact, some of the answers given were changed later to account for alleged payments to the wrong Aabar (Aabar Investment PJS Ltd in British Virgin Islands).

And according to the report, the payments kept on going to the company despite that it was identified as the wrong one. If true, the report is a very, very damning indictment of the follies of the current administration.

Ipohcrite: It was just what the rakyat had suspected - that the auditor-general's report on 1MDB was classified to conceal wrongdoing by the top government and 1MDB officials.

Otherwise, there's no earthly reason why such an important report should be classified when the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was tasked to reveal the shenanigans of 1MDB.

The attorney-general should now be quick to charge the wrongdoers, as he did in the case of Penang CM Lim Guan Eng, whose alleged action pales by comparison to 1MDB.

If not, he will also be regarded as complicit in the entire sordid affair.

FairMind: Yes, it's better to declassify the auditor-general’s report now as the "strip-tease" revealing of the wrongdoings piece by piece by Sarawak Report is doing more damage to the government.

Every day, the public is looking forward to what Sarawak Report is revealing next and its in-depth analysis.

In a way, it is a blessing in disguise for Pua that none of the PAC members was allowed to take home the secret auditor-general’s report because the first person the inspector-general of police (IGP) would pounce on in the investigation of the leak would be Pua.

MinahBulat: Pua, the fact that Salleh calls for the investigation of the leak clearly indicates that what was published by Sarawak Report must be true.

As for asking Najib to release the report, it is as good as telling him to incriminate himself.

Worldly Wise: In companies, societies and associations, independent audit reports must be given to each member.

Likewise, the country's audit report must be available to all citizens. Persons in authority should not be allowed to "filter" such reports before they are published.

Basically: Since the AG has already cleared Najib, there doesn’t seem to be any logical reason to classify the audit report. It's all above board, right?

1MDB is an excellent venture that will shoot Malaysia into Vision 2020, according to some of the 1MDB fans here, so why hide the report?

It can't be worse than the publicly available auditor-general’s reports on all the losses and shenanigans going on in the rest of the government agencies, can it?

Rupert16: Classifying the auditor-general’s report under the OSA is the last fig leaf covering alleged grand corruption, in complicity with Jho Low and others, through 1MDB.

Now that this fig leaf has been removed, let's see if the AG, the IGP and the ‘without fear or favour’ MACC will now dare to re-open the case.

If not, these guys are also complicit in the alleged grand corruption.
