DAP member Hew Kuan Yau has once again landed in the limelight for the wrong reasons, this time over his Facebook posting regarding China’s claims to the South China Sea.

Taking him to task, Youth group Challenger urged DAP to act against the firebrand, who is known as “superman”.

Without mincing words, its spokesperson Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman said, “DAP should take immediate action against super stupid ‘Superman’.”

“His defeatist, unfounded and unpatriotic statement undermines Malaysia's sovereign right over the disputed islands,” he added.

Syed Saddiq said that Hew’s statement undermined the tireless work put in by Malaysian soldiers who guard the nation’s shores and borders in the interest of sovereignty.

“His statement also undermines the efforts put in by our diplomats, lawyers and officials working at the Foreign Ministry to secure an amicable solution which safeguards our national sovereignty.

“His statement reeks of ignorance, especially considering that less than 14 hours ago, the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague gave a 497-page ruling against China's purported historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the 'nine-dash line which covers large swaths of the South China Sea, which were rejected,” he added.

According to "Superman", Syed Saddiq said, China owns the South China Sea and the billions worth of natural resources and security advantages which come with it.

“As a Malaysian who deeply cares for my nation's sovereignty, I am infuriated that a baseless and unpatriotic statement is uttered by the same person who about two months ago said that he wanted to ‘Screw orang Melayu’,” he added.

Hew’s posting also drew flak from other Facebook users, whereas Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang said this was another example of why DAP should not be trusted with power.

During the Sarawak state election, Hew came under fire when campaigning for DAP Batu Kitang candidate Abdul Aziz Isa.

He was accused of urging voters to back Abdul Aziz so that he could “screw the Malays, the big corrupt politicians, screw pok kai Parti Bersatu Bumiputera (PBB)”.

Hew later accused Umno cybertroopers of distorting the subtitles for his Mandarin speech to make him look like a racist.

However, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang later reprimanded him for using crude language, and the latter promised not to repeat the mistake.
