Hadi: PAS cannot walk hand in hand with clear enemies or duplicitous friends

In what may be a response to the ceasefire offer made to opposition parties by his deputy Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has reiterated that the Islamic party cannot walk hand in hand with either clear enemies or duplicitous friends.

"Stay the course, do not be swayed by either enemies or duplicitous friends; their stained left hand holds on to us, while their right hand latches on to enemies who can turn us away from the true path.

"Let the light of Islam be the torch for us to reach our goal even if it be long and far, for it safely provides the illumination to judiciously recognise friends from foes," said Hadi in a statement today.

He also said that while many were claiming to be wanting to save the country nowadays, some did so with ulterior motives to take advantage of recent troubles.

Hadi said that while PAS was open to cooperation with anyone, it would not walk hand in hand with those who were disloyal and were not prepared to work within the party's framework based on concepts defined by Islam.

He said that for the party, implementing Islam as defined by the Quran and Sunnah as well as the interpretation and understanding of the Islamic scholars was the highest goal.

All those who opposed this view only sought to derail the party from its course and must not be courted, he added.

He said that it was the same with those who had joined PAS with an eye for worldly rewards, but who could not survive in the party, which required both eyes fixed on the greater rewards of the hereafter.

Those who failed this test were either removed from the party or had left and were not to be consorted with.

"Learn from the holy Quran and the history of the Prophet... do not ever be swayed by the wayward views or knowledge spawned of the Devil who strides the open skies without regard for sin or merit and lacks conviction in Allah," he said.
