The US Department of Justice (DOJ) civil suits in relation to 1MDB funds have also turned the spotlight in the direction of Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio.
The documents claimed that money from the Malaysian firm was used to finance the movie 'The Wolf of Wall Street', which saw DiCaprio bagging a Golden Globe Award in 2014 for his performance as lead actor.
Whistleblower website Sarawak Report has tweeted DiCaprio, seeking his comments on the matter.
“Hi @LeoDiCaprio. Any comment on fact WOWS (The Wolf of Wall Street) was funded by (alleged) illicit money from Malaysia? US DOJ are seizing assets #1MDB,” read the tweet.

The tweet also featured a photograph of DiCaprio with Malaysian-born businessman Jho Low, who is one of those implicated in the DOJ suits.
In another tweet addressed to DiCaprio as well as American actor Tobey Maguire, Sarawak Report asked: “Hi @LeoDiCaprio/@TobeyMaguire, Malaysians are wondering how much partying was funded by #1MDB/@jho_low?”
This tweet included a photograph of both the actors with Low and two others.

The DOJ documents also claimed that Low withdrew US$1.15 million from his account at a Las Vegas casino to gamble with several individuals, including Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's stepson Riza Aziz, and the lead actor of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.
Riza owns the production firm Red Granite, which is accused of using US$64 million of the money allegedly siphoned from 1MDB to finance the production of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.
Red Granite has denied knowingly using illicit funds to make the film.
Apart from the actors, Sarawak Report also tweeted award-winning singer Alicia Keys with a photograph of her together with Low.
