Golfers Kelly Tan, Michelle Koh find form, but lag behind

Kelly Tan and Michelle Koh made a dramatic comeback to play a commendable game in the second round of women's golf at the Rio Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro yesterday.

Both professional players finally found the rhythm, with Tan carding a one-under par 70, while Koh played par golf (71) to stay in 50th and joint 52nd spot respectively.

After enduring poor form yesterday, Tan's shots finally found the mark at the newly Olympic Course with six birdies in the second, fifth, sixth, eighth, ninth and 13th hole.

She also collected bogeys in the seventh, 10th, 11th and double bogeyed the par four 15th hole to improve on her seven-over par 78 opening round for a two-round total of 148 strokes.

Koh, who had a disastrous eight-over 79, managed to get her shots in order with two birdies in the last two holes (17th and 18th) and picked up double bogey in the par five fifth hole.

She collected a two-round score of 150 strokes to share an identical mark with Czech Republic's Klara Spilkova.

However, Tan and Koh trailed the leader, former world number one South Korea's Park Inbee, who made a return from thumb and back injuries until few weeks, by massive 17 and 18 strokes respectively.

The Korean fired an identical five under-par 66 in both rounds to lead the field of 60 golfers by a single stroke behind American Stacey Lewis.

Overnight leader, 20-year-old Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn, who won the British Open last month, carded par-game to trail the leader by four strokes.

Ariya is now tied in eighth place with four others on total 136, with two more rounds remaining.
