Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali today said that no stop-work orders have been issued for contractors involved in realignment works for the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) project in his Bukit Antarabangsa constituency.

"No (stop-work orders)...That must be justified," Azmin, who is Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyperson, told reporters when met after the launch of Light Rail Transit 3 project at the Melawati indoor stadium in Shah Alam today.

Azmin said this when asked for comment on concerns raised by local residents from Taman Kelab Ukay, Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang.

This follows the appearance of earth fissures at a Q-Dees kindergarten playground on Monday, forcing evacuation of 51 students and temporary closure until further notice.

"YB Elizabeth has informed the Environment Department to monitor the situation and if there are any problems, we (the state government) will take action," said Azmin in reference to Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson Elizabeth Wong, who is the exco member in charge of environment.

He also said that the project had initially fulfilled stringent requirements set out by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ).

"So if there are any issues, MPAJ will be in charge to monitor, together with the Public Works Department and the Environment Department," he added.

The RM1.55 billion EKVE is a 24.16km project linking Sungai Long in Kajang to Ukay Perdana in Ampang.

The road-widening segment of the project is expected to be completed next year, while the entire project is scheduled for completion in 2019.
