Bravo to TangkapMO1 rally’s Anis Syafiqah

YOURSAY | ‘This is called bravery. This is called courage. This is called conviction.’

'Whole world knows we’ve been robbed, why are we still relaxed?'

Doc: TangkapMO1 rally spokesperson Anis Syafiqah Md Yusof simply does not understand why Malaysians are still relaxed when the "whole world knows that the country has been robbed".

This is the same question I ask myself and ask my close friends too. Sadly, the Malays, who have most to gain from the government coffers and the most to lose if it is empty, seem to be the most lackadaisical when it came to the nation's sorry economic state as a result of the 1MDB fiasco, for which their own Malay leaders have gambled away the nation's money on a dumb venture.

Anonymous 29051438068738: “Imagine if our houses are robbed - we lodge a police report and the police cannot do anything,” said Anis Syafiqah.

No, not "cannot do anything" but will not do anything because they know exactly who the robbers are - their paymasters.

SpecialBrew: Here’s a future leader who is able to think for herself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably she comes to the conclusion that dishonest, insane and intolerable leaders are not worth it and we as rakyat deserve better.

Corrupt and incompetent leaders have a long history of being protected and facilitated by corrupt politicians. So she tries to do something about it. There has never been a more important time for right-thinking students from all races to stand with her.

Ash Burn: This is called bravery. This is called courage. This is called conviction. This is called action, not mere talk.

For all this, I am humbled and hold you, Anis Syafiqah, in high respect. This young woman is man enough to make a stand against a repressive government.

HaveAGreatDay: Perhaps, just perhaps, there may yet be hope for Malaysia. If the youths of Malaysia are no longer content to allow the status quo to remain, change may yet come to our homeland.

Existential Turd: MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) is not the root cause of our problems. He is just the symptom. TangkapMO1 will not solve our problems. Another MO2, MO3, MO4... will take his place.

The non-Malays have been left out of the benefits accorded to the bumiputera for many decades. They have learned to be self-sufficient and independent. It is the Malays who will suffer most as many benefits are cut. PTPTN (National Education Fund) is just one of them.

Umno always portrays itself as the champion and protector of Malay rights. Ironically, the Malays suffer the most because of this "protection". Once the protection is gone, they will find themselves exposed and unable to compete.

CQ Muar: Anis Syafiqah obviously was angered by those thieves who stole from this nation. Her speech was both fiery and emphatic against those who plundered billions from the people instead of helping needy students and the rural folk.

Despite being surrounded by police officials, Anis Syafiqah made her points clear why she has to come out in the open as a student activist like many of her friends. She called on the people of this country, especially the rural folk, to change their mindset about the corrupt government.

I'm moved by her spirit and courage to call on the people to unite and put a stop to such evil and corrupt government (led by PM Najib Razak). Without mentioning who MO1 is, she quoted two other individuals, namely Jho Low and Riza Aziz.

We are beginning to witness such brave students coming out to defend our country. Pray more will follow suit. Bravo, Anis Syafiqah.

Telestai!: I admire her guts, tenacity and most of all, her passion. This begs the question: Why are Malaysians in general seemingly disinterested in the 1MDB affair? It blows a RM42 billion hole in the country's finances and if not stopped, it becomes a runaway train all the way to hell.

Remember how Venezuela was once a rich nation? The country is now on a supersonic flight to starvation.

Nes: Anis Syafiqah, your statement is so simple and yet so true. Everyone is as angry as you and feel so helpless but young as you are, you gather your courage to say it and say it to the authorities and MO1 in their faces.

If there are many more like you, this country may have hope, albeit a very slim one.

One Malaysia: Yes, simply put and yet the most effective of many statements from those who have spoken on the 1MDB scandal.

Thank you, Anis Syafiqah! Young Malays like you need to address the issue frankly and simply to the rural folk who have been blindly loyal to the BN government all these years and let the leaders get away with crime and corruption.

Hardboiled: Leaders of Malaysia, watch this video. Watch it again and again. This is the result of your greed and callousness. This is the result of your own crony policies.

Students from all races are suffering from the lack of education and financial assistance. This and the next generation will carry debts and fail to create wealth for themselves and the nation and force them to their knees in order to survive. You did this. You made this happen. You are responsible.

Open your eyes to your own folly. Those who support MO1 and the whole shebang, you are traitors. And traitors are the worst vermin to walk the earth.

Why Oh Why?: Anis Syafiqah, you see the future that works for the next generation. The present leaders refuse the future as they only see the past which works for them.

Therefore, a conflict will arise. So be it, if that is what it takes for Malaysia to move to greater heights.

Ahmet Al Tarabulshit: And so it began. Finally. When are the rest going to wake up?
