The DAP-led Penang government should live up to its 'competency, accountability and transparency' slogan by asking its state assemblyperson, whose father was implicated in an alleged housing graft case, to resign or go on leave, said MCA leader Ti Lian Ker.

Ti said this should also apply to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who was in June charged for alleged abuse of power and obtaining a property without sufficient consideration.

"DAP must be consistent and should demand their chief minister, their assemblyman etc to resign pending disposal of any court cases or taking leave pending investigation to show that DAP does walk their talk and do what they preach.

"What we see today is that DAP is only vocal towards their rivals but meek and tolerant towards such corrupted practices or cultures within their backyard.

"DAP must show their commitment and non-tolerance of corruption by taking 'harsher' actions from within as exemplary to others and not 'no action, talk only'," said Ti in a statement.

Ti said DAP must take responsibility for the alleged corruption and not play a "victim" or "whitewash" the issue.

He accused DAP of having projected a "holier than thou" image when it comes to issues involving abuse of power.

"Now that these practices are in their backyard, they can no longer pretend or remain silent.

"In the name of 'competency, accountability and transparency', DAP leaders must come forward and condemn the corrupted practices of their leaders, relatives or otherwise without fear or favour," he said.

On Monday, Penang Gerakan highlighted a video which purportedly showed the father of a DAP state assemblyperson with several individuals who claimed to have paid him cash in return for low-cost housing units.

The five-minute video clip was first uploaded on a pro-BN Facebook page, and showed Lim Keat Seong sitting in a coffee shop with several individuals demanding refunds as they had failed to obtain the promised houses.

The 68-year-old retiree is the father of DAP Sungai Pinang assemblyperson Lim Siew Khim, who has denied any involvement in the alleged housing scam and distanced herself from her father's dealings.

Meanwhile, Star Online has reported that Keat Seong presented himself at the MACC office in George Town today.

Penang MACC director Abdul Aziz Aban said the man arrived at 12.50pm.

"We are presently questioning him and it is still too early to determine how long it will take," he said.
