Lim Keat Seong, the father of DAP's Sungai Pinang assemblyperson Lim Siew Khim, has been remanded for seven days by the Magistrate's Court in George Town.

This is to aid in an investigation into alleged corruption involving the purchase of affordable homes in the state, Bernama reported today.

Subordinate Court (crime) assistant registrar Muna Maria Azmi issued the remand order today following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The 68-year-old retiree's remand begins today and will end on Sept 8.

The MACC arrested him yesterday, and he is being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.

The case first came to light when a video clip emerged last Monday, showing Keat Seong with several individuals who claimed to have paid him cash in return for low-cost housing units.

His daughter Siew Khim has denied any involvement in the alleged housing scam and distanced herself from her father's dealings.

She recorded her statement at the MACC office in George Town this morning, as a witness to investigations into the graft allegations, the Malay Mail Online reported.

Meanwhile, Penang DAP chairperson Chow Kon Yeow reportedly said on Wednesday that the party will not conduct an internal probe on the allegations.
