‘Ultra-kiasu’ Ridhuan fingered the wrong people

YOURSAY | ‘But if Ridhuan was to blame Najib, he may lose his job at the university.’

KJ ticks off Ridhuan Tee for his 'ultra-kiasu athlete' remark

Hardboiled: When athletes first started mastering a sport, they were at an age where money was of no consequence. If anything, parents use hard-earned-and-very-little-to-spare monies to help their kids achieve their dreams of becoming a world athlete.

Even world snooker players start at such a young age that they have to step on a box to play the game. No one gets to compete at the global level without having their training at a very young age. So fun, achievement and a sense of pride are the motivating factors here, not money.

The commitment and sacrifice required to get to the Olympics - and only a handful get to represent their country - is of such a tall order for controversial academic Ridhuan Tee Abdullah to say their only concern is money and fame is profoundly ignorant.

They want to be champions. And if they are good enough, they can become national heroes. Patriotic? Yes, you better believe it. Are you, Ridhuan?

Tholu: Sports and Youth Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, this man whose heart is filled to the brink with hatred and negative perceptions towards others, not only knows nothing about sports but knows nothing about all the issues he constantly comments on.

Ridhuan says that the athletes competed in the Rio Olympics for fame and fortune, rather than patriotism.

Well, Ridhuan, the only reason I know why you want to comment on possibly every issue under the sun is simply because of fame, cheap fame - you are the kind of person who desperately aspire to be famous, not realising that all your views and opinions on popular issues are not worth the bucket that is used to fill the night soil of so many other erudite Malaysians.

Indeed, you are only fit to be the dirty dust on the sole of their feet.

Wg321: This ultra-kiasu Ridhuan blamed the wrong people. He should blame PM Najib Razak.

When the sportsmen and sportswomen get a silver medal at the Rio Olympic, Najib increased the reward from RM100,000 to RM200,000.

But if Ridhuan was to blame Najib, he may lose his job at the university.

Anonymous_1421406986: There is a saying among Tamilians - that a person who until yesterday embraced the religion of his ancestors and has become an adherent of a new religion, he will instantly become a preacher of the new religion when he was not in his earlier religion.

Ridhuan definitely has an identity problem. He is attempting to openly prove that he is a thoroughbred Malay and Muslim. An adherent who has found strength and rooting in his new religion will never want to condemn his original religion.

What right has he to judge the contributions of Chinese Olympic medallists? What makes him think they did not give their best? Please respect and not underrate the commitment level of our athletes.

Only winners, especially those within the top 30 or 40 in the world, are invited to participate in the Olympics. What does it matter whether they participate in events as a team or as individuals?

SusahKes: KJ, you are “angry” and “disappointed” with this chap; have you ever wondered where did he get the "inspiration" to behave the way he has been over the past few years?

I wonder, what if the government actually exercised its authority to have this wannabe Malay expert charged for racial sedition? I am, of course, speaking of the government of which you are a part of.

If your Umno-BN team actually took national unity seriously, chaps like Ridhuan would now be peeling potatoes in Sungai Buloh, instead of conducting pseudo-intellectual discourses and lecturing at local universities.

But KJ, I would also lay the blame on you; because your beaming at Hishammuddin Hussein's raised keris, was probably the inspirational launch pad for the likes of Ridhuan, Perkasa, Utusan Malaysia, the cow’s head protestors and the rest of the pseudo-race protector-wannabe-teams out there.

To paraphrase a quote from Tim Burton's first ‘Batman’, “They are there because you made them first.”

Anonymous_1421806811: I wonder what this moron of an academician has ever done in terms of empirical research that is so internationally acclaimed that it would bring his university much needed reputation.

Instead he babbles on speculations without any evidence and this makes his reputation as an academician highly doubtful.

Anonymous 2411361459930771: This wild goat cannot stand to see the grass greener on the side for others.

He is so full of hatred, jealousy and despair and perhaps suffering from a severe bout of inferiority complex.

PK: There are those who "crown" themselves with invisible halos. There are those who claim to be holier than thou.

There are those who believe to have higher morals than others. These will eventually become too heavy to bear for them.

For whatever reasons they raise themselves, I see their insecurities and self-doubt, and just waiting for the weight to crush them. Are you one, Ridhuan? I hope not.
