The man suspected responsible for the bombings in New York and New Jersey was arrested today after a shootout with police in Linden, New Jersey, CNN reported.
Citing sources, CNN reported Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, was taken to an ambulance in a stretcher with his right shoulder bloodied and bandaged.
He is suspected to be involved in the bombing in New York's Chelsea district with injured 29, a garbage can explosion at Seaside Park, New Jersey and pipe bombs found in a backpack Sunday night in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the international news network reported.
Officials approached Ahmad to question him because they believe he was the man rolling a duffel bag in surveillance footage near the scene of the crime in Chelsea, it reported.
The same man was captured on video in the area where police found a pressure-cooker device, four blocks away from where the Chelsea explosion occurred, it reported.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) described Ahmad as an Afghanistan-born naturalised US citizen.
The FBI released a wanted poster of Ahmad earlier today.
The explosions coincide with the 71st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
