Two PKR assemblypersons and four others must enter their defence on the charge of obstructing a public officer during the Kita Lawan demonstration in March 2015.

They are Simpang Pulai assemblyperson Tan Kar Hing, Teja assemblyperson Chang Lih Kang, Chee Chu Sang, Yong Ming Chong, N Tamilarason and Gan Zhi Mou.

The prima facie verdict was delivered in the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court today.

Magistrate Nur A'Minahtul Mardiah Md Nor fixed Nov 28 and 29 for continuation of proceedings at defence stage, The Star reported.

They were charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which carries the maximum sentence of two years' jail, or RM10,000 fine or both.

Chee was also charged under Secion 353 of the Penal Code, which deals with using criminal force to obstruct a public officer during the rally on March 27 last year.

The accused will take the witness stand in the subsequent proceedings, their lawyers Gobind Singh Deo and Eric Paulsen said.

The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Fadhly Mohd Zambry.

The Kita Lawan rally was held in protest against the conviction of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy in February 2015.
