Celebrity marketing coach Azizan Osman said he will be seeking clarification over Univeristi Malaya (UM) after the university denied it had granted him an honorary doctorate.

“We would like to inform that we take this matter seriously. We have seeked (sic) further clarification and the outcome of the inquiry will be communicated once the process has run its course,” he said through a statement released through his company Rickworks International Sdn Bhd.

The statement was also published on Azizan’s Facebook page.

“We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause, nonetheless, we are committed to continue to deliver the highest value to our clients and partners.

“We are humbled by their loyalty and support and we will address this as efficiently as possible,” he said.

Earlier today, Azizan caused a stir after UM’s clarification on Facebook suggested his ‘dr’ title may not be real.

Azizan’s website refers to him as ‘Dr Azizan Osman’, while his firm’s website states that he has a honorary PhD in entrepreneurship from UM.

According to aziznosman.com, he has a PhD in management from a local university.

He describes himself as an author, speaker, “inspirational entrepreneur” and “proven success mentor who reinvented business owners to achieve higher sales, better profit and greater life”.

According to Azizan’s website, he holds the Malaysian record for hosting the largest motivational seminar in the country.

He has written 18 self-help books on investment and business, says his Facebook page, which has more than 800,000 followers.

His seminars have catchy titles, such as ‘Millionaire Marketing Mastery’.
