Harapan's crumbling in Sabah strengthens BN, hails Rahman Dahlan

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan hailed what he described as the crumbling of Pakatan Harapan in Sabah.

This was after three state assemblypersons, namely Lajim Ukin (Klias) and Terence Siambun (Moyog) quit PKR while Junz Wong (Likas) exited DAP for a local Sabah party.

This was after Penampang MP Darell Leiking also quit PKR last month to join former Umno vice president Shafie Apdal's new Sabah-based party, to challenge the ruling coalition.

"Sabah BN will be even stronger with this exodus. As I said before, Lajim, Leiking, Siambun and Wong will only cannibalise PKR and DAP support," said Abdul Rahman, who is also a Sabah leader.

Abdul Rahman, who is Kota Belud MP, said those in the exodus were "the same people with the same attitude" with "no originality".

"By quitting, these YBs essentially said PKR and DAP are useless parties. But didn't they praise PKR and DAP as saviours of Sabahans before?

"Lajim's tendency for political somersaults is a given. But the young YBs must explain why PKR and DAP must be rejected by Sabahans," he said.

Abdul Rahman stressed that Sabah BN had achieved many successes and will continue to work for Sabahans.

"That's our core. That's our promise," he said.

Speculation is rife that the trio will be joining forces with Shafie.

While Pakatan Harapan had been cautiously positive about working with Shafie's party when Leiking exited PKR last month, the latest departure was a blow to the coalition.

This was because Lajim took with him 11 PKR divisions, while almost half of the Sabah DAP leadership also followed suit.
