'Nasi Lemak Anak Dara' seller gets surprise visit from S'gor MB
Annonymous@1069147219929755: Siti Hajjar Ahmad is an excellent example to be followed by all Malaysian youths. She has the right spirit, and the determination, to succeed in life.
Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) should not have so quickly and cruelly slapped her with a huge fine of RM2,000 over a minor offence. They should have given her a warning instead of rushing to penalise her.
Swipenter: Maybe she should add American pies to her menu. Do apply for a trading licence, and if you have trouble raising money to pay the fine, many would be willing to help you out.
Roar For Truth: Cheers to Siti Hajjar for selling nasi lemak for a living and shame to the one living in style from 681 ‘stolen’ American pies.
Fairplayer: Siti Hajjar, you can get cash-booking orders from your faithful customers.
Get them to bank into your account upon ordering. Ask them to state their names and the number of packets and for how many days they are ordering, and when (day and time) they intend to collect.
In that way, you don't have to over-prepare, thereby reducing the chance of making losses. Or else, make your usual daily quota, take them out in a trolley or basket, and sell on the street and in kopitiams, markets, etc, places where there are people.
Anonymous_4056: Siti Hajjar, your determination to succeed in life and to be fiercely independent when it comes to money is indeed laudable.
But please do it legally and set a good example for others. Your achievement is doing so would be an outstanding show. And all those who wanted to support her, do it by all means - legally.
We, the ordinary rakyat, should set a good example to shame our unscrupulous corrupted politicians who are actually responsible for our present predicament.
Last but not least, please do not fault others. The local council workers are just doing their duties.
The Analyser: Since when the Shah Alam City Council ever been remotely interested in the “health, safety and welfare of traders”.
If anything, they should be interested in the health, safety and welfare of the trader's customers... but that is even less likely.
Fairplayer: Here is a hardworking girl earning a decent living and she is being penalised and fined. The city council should just issue her a warning and educate her and others about the proper procedure to hawk legally.
I think it is criminal and inhuman to fine the poor girl. Selangor MB Azmin Ali should get the council to cancel the fine.
Jackycin: Give me your account numbers, I want to help you. RM2,000 is no small sum. I know how you feel. My business was ‘robbed’ by local council villains too.
Anonymous #13114320: If Azmin is reading this, your officers are more interested in ‘cari makan’ then getting proper work done.
I have seen local council officers ‘ronda’ in bikes to summon cars parked illegally and tow them away.
And you thought they being super-efficient? The reason why they are so keen to tow cars away is they have struck a deal to release the cars at the back lane of the shoplots.
They no longer interested issuing tickets and are apparently working with a third party company to tow cars away and pocket the money themselves.
Determined Sarawakian: Not Muhyiddin Yassin, not Anwar Ibrahim, not Mukhriz Mahathir, and certainly not Mahathir.
Azmin should be the PM if Pakatan wins. He's so noble and down to earth.
Dont Just Talk: At least Siti Hajjar has pride and despite graduating with an electrical engineering degree, she makes an honest living selling nasi lemak while searching for a full-time job.
Bersih, literate Malaysians are proud of you, Siti Hajjar, and remember, tough times never last but tough people do.
Wg321: If Siti Hajjar has a degree in Islamic Studies, it is understandable if she cannot get a job. But she has a degree in electrical engineering.
Something is very wrong with this country. Maybe she has to also pay her PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund) loan. How is she going to do it?
There are thousands of unemployed graduates like her in this country. Malaysia is really going to the dogs.
Sarawakian: Siti Hajjar, having read this article, my heart bleeds for you and this nation.
In better countries, your degree would have landed you a good job and you would be on your way to fulfilling your Malaysian dream instead of selling nasi lemak.
