DAP's Damansara Utama assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin has accepted an invitation to visit the Permata Anak Negara centre in Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

This after Yeo said all efforts to encourage early childhood education, including the Rosmah Mansor-supported Permata programme, should be supported.

Yeo confirmed with Malaysiakini that she accepts the invitation extended by aide to the prime minister's wife, Rizal Mansor.

The event will include a briefing on Permata and a question-and-answer session.

Rizal on Monday invited Yeo for a visit, with condition that she agrees to hold a press conference to explain on the Penang tunnel project and the implementation of Freedom of Information (FOI) in the northern state.

The Penang government is headed by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

Yeo issued a statement on Permata and early childhood education, after Rosmah received brickbats over a report that she will receive a Unesco award for the programme.

Unesco clarified that the award is by NGO, the Antiquities Coalition, and not the UN body.

The Prime Minister's Office said the coalition offered to defer the award, given the bad press, but Rosmah declined.
