In a sarcastic swipe, DAP lawmaker Tony Pua asked that he be invited to a forum at Universiti Malaya tonight, which will feature 1MDB president and executive director Arul Kanda.

"Send me an invite lah. I feel left out. How can you talk about 1MDB without me?" he said on Facebook.

Pua is one of 1MDB's fiercest critics, who the firm had accused of recycling allegations for a political motive.

The Petaling Jaya Utara MP also expressed surprise that Arul Kanda was still giving talks following the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) civil suits related to 1MDB funds.

"Oh wow. I thought Arul Kanda disappeared off the map of the earth since the US DOJ confirmed billions of ringgit was (allegedly) siphoned from 1MDB...

"Looks like he is still around and helping the government-funded BN propaganda agency Jasa to go round Malaysian public universities to brainwash our best and brightest," he added.

The town hall meeting, which is partly organised by the UM students representative council (MPPUM) and Department of Special Affairs (Jasa), is only open to the university’s students.

This is part of the "Jelajah Kampus" roadshow organised by Jasa at different campuses.

In its Facebook post yesterday, MPPUM urged the students to pose questions about the controversial 1MDB saga and other issues confronting the nation.

Among others, the DOJ suit named Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s stepson Riza Aziz and Malaysian businessman Jho Low, who is said to be close to the prime minister.

The court filings also mentioned another individual as “Malaysian Official 1", whom a cabinet minister later confirmed to be Najib.

However, the minister said since the DOJ did not name the prime minister, it showed that Najib is not being investigated.

Najib has repeatedly denied abusing public funds for personal gain, and blamed such allegations on those conspiring to topple him from power.

Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has also cleared him of any wrongdoing.
