Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said that all BN-led states have lodged their official objections against the redelineation proposal to the Election Commission (EC).

“Yesterday was the last day so all of us have lodged (our objections) but we lodged through the proper channels, according to the rules and regulations as stated in the EC Act,” he told reporters during a pitstop at the Putrajaya Community Ride at his house in Putrajaya today.

He added that each state under the BN administration had handed over their official objections to the EC.

There are three ways to lodge an objection under the EC Act, he explained, with one of the ways being through the state governments.

That is the method BN has decided to go with, he said, adding that they instructed all the states under them to lodge their objections together.

The second way, he said, would be through local authorities, whereas the third would be through the voters themselves.

“For example, in states that are run by BN, the opposition can use 100 voters in that area to put their protest against whatever their hue and cry is all about and it’s the same thing for us.

“In states not run by us, we will get the 100 voters in that parliament constituency to protest whatever they feel like they should protest so we leave it to the EC to decide,” he said.

Umno had previously said that it was unhappy about the redelineation exercise and would fight against it.

The EC’s redelineation proposal has been heavily criticised since it was made publicly available, with the opposition claiming it is heavily skewed in BN's favour.
