In Selangor, the number of evacuees at five relief centres rose to 386 as of 9am today from 380 last night.

According to a Selangor Disaster Operations Room spokesman, the 60 evacuees, up from 54 last night who were housed at the Datuk Ahmad Razali Multipurpose Hall, were from Kampung Batu 5, Kapar, Klang.

The number of evacuees at four other relief centres, namely from Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar (236), Sekinchan (two) and Sungai Air Tawar (88) remained the same.

The four relief centres are Kampung Tok Muda Multipurpose Hall in Kapar, Sungai Air Tawar Hall, Parit Baru Hall and Seri Sekinchan Hall in Sabak Bernam.

In Kedah, 85 flood victims from 24 families in several villages in Kota Kuala Muda started to be evacuated to four relief centres last night.

Kuala Muda District Disaster Management Committee Secretariat officer Civil Defence Second Lt Azahar Ahmad said three of the relief centres opened last night were Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Kuala, Kampung Paya Hall, Masjid Haji Yusof Hall in Bukit Kecil and the house of the Sungai Meriam Village Development and Security Committee.

In Negeri Sembilan, Civil Defence director Lt Col Kamal Mokhtar said no relief centre had been opened so far following the high-tide phenomenon.

However, 15 villages around Port Dickson are expected to be affected if the high tide occurred, accompanied by heavy rain and strong wind.

Among the villages are Kampung Sungai Raya in Pasir Panjang, Kampung Si Rusa Dalam, Kampung Telok Pelandok in Si Rusa, Kampung Air Meleleh, Kampung Paya and Taman Sri Tarjing.

In Perak, the situation was under control although the high tide started from 1.30am with a drizzle over the coastal areas since midnight.

The Drainage and Irrigation Department's district engineer, M. Sasitharan said the water level in Sungai Panchor was at 3.4 metres from sea level as of 4.45am today.

"According to the Marine Department's forecast, the high tide level is expected to reach its highest tonight within the Oct 14-18 period, but the situation is under control," he said.
