DiCaprio can save our environment - by returning 1MDB money

YOURSAY | 'If the money is invested in our forests, how many trees can be preserved?'

Protest in London against DiCaprio over 1MDB scandal

Mushiro: Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who is described as fiercely vocal on environmental issues, must be fiercely greedy on corruption money to support his habits of gambling and super parties.

The United Nations should dismiss such shady personalities as their messengers of peace for climate change.

Trueglitter: The absence of any response or rebuttal from DiCaprio at accusations of receiving funds through the infamous 1MDB scandal, implicating PM Najib Razak's stepson Riza Aziz and businessman Jho Low, does not augur well on his purported innocence.

More so by his deliberate and 'sign of guilt' attempt to secretly enter the Odeon Theatre via a back door to escape the appropriate and timely confrontation of well-meaning anti-corruption activists.

As a renowned actor with an enviable income, it is utterly unbecoming and professionally damaging, to say the least, as his integrity and honesty will be publicly questioned should he continue his act of silence on the serious matter - that is, acknowledging the fact that the money he received did truly belong to the people of Malaysia and not to a corrupt or overzealously generous individual.

The onus is now on the actor to return the money to redeem his own self-worth and dignity.

HaveAGreatDay: Bruno Manser Fund's Johana Michel and Lukas Straumann should consider themselves lucky they are in a country that recognises legitimate dissent - in Bolehland, they would have been arrested and put in a lock-up.

But the Odeon Theatre' actions also go to show these Westerners are not all that democratic as well.

DiCaprio can run but he cannot hide - I am sure he will be hounded until he comes clean on 1MDB. He is not in Bolehland, after all, where Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) can protect him.

Mushiro: If these people were not guilty:

1. Why did DiCaprio slip into the theatre through a back door, avoiding his fans?

2. Why is Jho Low staying very quiet the past one year and his super yacht is now sailing in the waters of Hong Kong?

3. Why is no one challenging the confiscation of assets amounting to US$1 billion by the US Department of Justice (DOJ)?

4. Why is Najib not answering anything on 1MDB? Silence is not an option.

Tommy: Yes, what a joke. Now DiCaprio has learned the art of going through the 'back door'.

Roguekiller: Though this alleged accessory to thievery has yet to be charged, he is implicated by the DOJ's civil suit as a result of its lengthy investigations, coupled with the FBI's findings.

It is just a matter of time the court proceedings will kick off - the process will take some time to finalise, thence, followed by criminal charges.

DiCaprio is a famous actor, why is he shy to meet those gathered there and had to ‘steal’ himself into the venue?

Why won't he dare face the crowd?

FellowMalaysian: The world does not need an allegedly seedy person to be the UN messenger of peace.

If DiCaprio refuses to answer claims about him or his charity organisation receiving tainted funds from 1MDB, then he must resign voluntarily from his UN post.

Justice for Malaysia: If the 1MDB money is invested in our forests, do you know how many trees can be grown and how much forest could be preserved?

We do not need thieves to teach us about climate change or environment preservation. Just return us the money. Period

Fair&Just: Malaysia is now infamous worldwide and very popular with world-class tyrants, thieves and robbers, where Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe even dropped in to visit his peer, before going to Singapore for medical treatment.

Worse, Mugabe's visit only confirms the standard of medical services here is lousy.

Lagi Satu Kalilah: Wow! Now MO1 is more famous than any Hollywood star.

Jaguh: Not bad, more international coverage for the biggest crime of the century. And the main actor is MO1, supporting cast is Leonardo DiCaprio, Jho Low, Riza Aziz, and directed by…
