Penang BN is claiming Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng made a "fantastic untruth and lie" regarding the fish farming industry in the state.

State BN chief Teng Chang Yeow said Lim had repeated the "super untruth and lie" a few times within and outside the country.

"He proclaimed unabashedly that fish farming started in the state only after the 2008 general election.

"Lim said it was because of his CAT (competency, accountability and transparency) slogan that the industry has grown into a billion ringgit industry in the last eight years under his stewardship," Teng said.

"The CM's assertion is not only untrue, a lie and bragging but he is also claiming credit for something he hasn't or done little in achieving success," he added.

"Claiming credit is the trademark of the CM and DAP government because they have no master plan to guide the development of the state.

"Instead, all these successes were from the strong foundation laid by the previous BN government," Teng said.

He said this today in the third series of what he described as exposing the "Chief Minister's bull****".

Teng said he wished to put the record straight that the pilot project for fish farming was launched by then agriculture minister Amar Sulaiman Daud on April 23, 1999, in Pulau Gedong.

However, Lim claimed, on Aug 2, 2015, that before the 2008 election, there was no fish farming in Penang, but after that, the industry had grown to 300 ponds.

Teng said Lim's claim was published in local Chinese daily Kwong Wah Jit Poh on Aug 2 last year.

He added that Lim made the same claim at an international forum at Oxford University in London on Oct 14 last year.

"He again bragged about this untruth and lied about this achievement at a Penang function on Oct 3, as reported in Sin Chew daily," Teng said.

During the press conference, Teng produced figures from the Fisheries Department to show that fish farming existed during BN's rule, prior to 2008.

"The industry was already producing remarkable results since 2001," said Teng, who is also state Gerakan chairperson.

"Fish farming was introduced as an aquaculture industry long before Lim Guan Eng came to Penang," he said.

"It was the BN state government that laid the strong foundation for the industry to grow.

"For Lim to have made such a lie and bragging claims goes to show that CAT is dead," added Teng, who was a state executive councillor in the former BN government.
