The government is looking at blacklisting law firms who have contracts with government-linked companies, who support Bersih.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the government would also look at lawyers who are involved in the movement.

"We will also (blacklist) the law firms. I will discuss this with the relevant parties, and I urge government-linked companies not to directly engage the services of these law firms.

"This not only involves those who assist Bersih, including financially, but those who also are part of Bersih's leadership. We shall see," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.

He said such law firms should not be on the GLC panel of legal advisors.

Earlier, Utusan Malaysia quoted lawyer Azril Mohd Amin urging the government to blacklist law firms which sponsor, fund and assist Bersih rallies.

Azril said many of these firms have GLC contracts, but are openly supporting Bersih and "going against the government".

Abdul Rahman, who is in charge of the Economic Plannin Unit, yesterday said he will instruct the Public-Private Partnership Unit (Ukas) to check firms seeking government contracts for Bersih links.

"There are firms I have in mind, but I don't want to reveal them. I know who they are and they know who they are," he said today.

The minister yesterday also claimed that the Penang and Selangor governments also blacklist firms which have ties to "certain parties".

Both Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has demanded that Abdul Rahman show proof of this.
