YOURSAY | ‘One can recall his inability to explain to reporters what those so-called units were.’

1MDB may haunt BN in future, warns ex-minister Husni

Odin Tajué: From former second finance minister Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah’s revelation in Parliament, one would be very much inclined to surmise two things:

1) that when he was in Finance Ministry, he was kept out of the loop with regards to all matters that have had to do with 1MDB.

Therefore, all decisions related to 1MDB were made solely by the finance minister I–cum–prime minister aka Malaysian Official 1; and

2) that when he made statements on 1MDB matters, he was merely repeating what he had been told to say.

One can recall his inability to explain to reporters what those so-called units were. He could not explain, because he had only been told to say what he was saying then, and no explanation had been provided to him on what those units actually were.

Trueglitter: It is sad that the nation did not give Ahmad Husni a "standing ovation" despite his nerve-wrecking warning to the cabinet of the probable disasters that might befall on the BN over the 1MDB scandals.

Ahmad Husni's high expectations that his “food for thought” message will absolve him from his alleged knowledge of the controversial 1MDB scandals, being a former cabinet minister for at least seven years, would indeed be a woeful wish as it coincides with 1MDB's life span.

It will be appropriate to reiterate that his forewarning message on the consequences will not set his own conscience free, acknowledging the fact that he should have knowledge of the 1MDB scandals being a cabinet minister throughout the said period.

It is indicative that those who have had knowledge of such misdeeds like the 1MDB scandals and had deliberately failed to report it to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should also be guilty for concealing it.

Anonymous #21828131: By revealing in Parliament and to top it, his then appointment as finance minister 2, Husni knows exactly how 1MDB was run because he was there (like a father who owns up and says that is my child and not a bastard).

His allegation carries a lot of weight and must be used by the inspector-general of police (IGP) as a basis to get to the bottom of things, and not waste time waiting for Jho Low and his allegedly corrupt friends to drop on his table.

Ahmad Husni is the lead witness and together with MO1 (Malaysian Official 1), it would be easy to nail the culprits and cleanse 1MDB, and put an end to the derogatory term "kleptocracy" which is now on everybody's lips.

Mushiro: Malaysia will most likely lose another US$6.5 billion when 1MDB loses its arbitration case to Abu Dhabi’s IPIC (International Petroleum Investment Company).

The US$4 billion in Aabar BVI is definitely gone. So, besides the RM41 billion, which has now bloated to RM50 billion, Malaysia may not receive the full payment for the 60 percent sale of Bandar Malaysia.

Ahmad Husni is questioning Parliament as if he was not aware of the details of 1MDB when he was the finance minister 2. Indeed, many of the wrongdoings would have gone on through his ministry.

Anonymous 122461436161429: So, it appears that this man ran away before he was left carrying the baby. Or shall I say, left carrying the monster.

He is talking now, but isn't it a bit too late? When he was minister, he should have insisted and cooperated with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and other countries seeking information and let the alleged crooks hang.

He should have lodged police reports, which the attorney-general (AG) and the IGP would find it hard to ignore. Instead he resigned.

Kingfisher: Ahmad Husni has within reason and his own moral values done justice to his person and conscience.

He should hereafter embark on a moral crusade to educate those culpable in the 1MDB scandal, and especially those capable of constructive remedial actions to prevent any further harm to our beloved nation that he fears are imminent.

Pemerhati Bebas: Ahmad Husni, do you think those in BN, and especially those in Umno, really care? If they do, they would have hung those responsible out to dry.

They are not stupid. They just don't care, even though they know that the country is going to be a pariah nation. The 1MDB scam has been allegedly carefully planned from the very onset, and I bet they already have their exit plan.

So, what if BN lose the coming GE? It's the "other people" who are going to clean the sh**.

Existential Turd: Why doesn't the second finance minister know anything about the goings-on in his ministry? What was his function? Is he a rubber stamp? Or a parrot tasked to announce statements he has no knowledge of?

JD Lovrenciear: The mantra is, anyone questioning about 1MDB is anti-government and harbours plans to topple the Najib administration. So, now by your questioning, sir, can we speculate what is coming your way?

SusahKes: Careful Husni, Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan may want yo blacklist you too. Then again, nothing is beneath BN.
