Sukri’s suicide shows we’ve reached new level of despair?

YOURSAY | ‘There is a serious disconnect between reality and the picture painted by the gov’t.’

Body of man whose ‘political’ suicide note went viral found

Trueglitter: Looking through the heart-wrenching contents of Mohd Sukri Saad’s purported suicide note, my eyes were teary by the feelings of total sadness at the stark hopelessness of the piteous cries of abject desperation of the man, who was willing to undertake the ultimate sacrifice for sake of protecting the dignity and respect for his wife and children.

The pang of pain had been made all the more unfathomable and unbearable when the gravity of his purported guilt involved only a paltry RM360 worth of contraband cigarettes.

Evidently, the poor and wretched man was struggling to make ends meet to ensure that his family would not be condemned to the streets and become beggars, looking out for handouts.

It is hoped that those political opportunists, particularly Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) and his political goons, will have sight of this tear-jerking posting and that their conscience will perpetually prick them when the mammoth sums in amount of at least RM2.6 billion of the alleged rakyat's money had been so squandered.

JusticeNow!: The sense of hopelessness and despair in Malaysia has reached a new level unseen in its short history.

How can a young man with young children and a young wife felt so hopeless in the face of all the opulent claims of conscienceless self-enriching elites of the ruling class of our beloved country?

There is a serious disconnect between reality and the picture painted by the government; the truth is shown by Mohd Sukri. It’s so sad.

Sound Mind: Not everyone is the same. He has taken his own life simply because he felt that the punishment meted out for doing a mistake to fulfil his 'needs' is too small compared to those who steal people's wealth to fulfil their 'wants'.

At the same time, the one who steals a bigger amount can still pay the fine and lead a normal life after coming out from prison as there will be still enough money to go on.

Humans are generally more quarrelsome to fellow human beings than any other creature on the earth.

Swipenter: There is a growing sense of hopelessness and despair in Bolehland.

Mohd Sukri is a good example that the ordinary man finds making a living and putting food on the table very difficult to feed himself and his family.

Contrast that with the billions and millions found in personal accounts and drawers of the corrupt who are still walking around town, with him caught for selling RM360 worth of contraband cigarettes.

If that doesn't make you angry with the state of affairs in Bolehland then I don't know what will. My condolence to your loved ones and family and rest in peace (RIP), Mohd Sukri.

Appum: I wonder how many Sukris there are in the making? Many more ordinary rakyat are finding it difficult to make ends meet, while the Umno elites are swimming in millions of ringgit. How not to despair?

Ash burn: He was suffering. He saw no end in sight. Helpless and alone. But as the adage goes, don't do the crime if can't do the time.

My sympathy and condolence to his loved ones. It was a needless death.

Roguekiller: Mohd Sukri could have done wrong by selling contraband cigarettes to earn a decent living for his family.

Maybe there was no other option to find food on the table; yet, the authorities had eagle eyes to pick him up for a minor offence, but are blind when MO1 allegedly stole billions of ringgit from the rakyat.

They could see a small fly but failed to see the elephant; maybe the inspector-general of police (IGP) needs an eye examination. Anyway, this is Malaysia, only the Big One Boleh.

Legit: This is exactly what happened in Tunisia which led to the Arab Spring. Now we have this Sukri, who has been charged with a minor crime involving a paltry amount of RM360, has committed suicide.

Will a few incidents like this trigger the Malaysian Spring?

Anonymous_1375701728: Welcome to the real world. Legit, you hit the nail on the head. It is a pity that in this land of 'milk and honey', a young man is driven to suicide for want of not being able to put food on the table for his family. May his soul rest in peace.

As I en-Vision 2050, the year of TN50

Basically: We are the only country that puts out another yardstick before we are even close to completing the previous one.

Put simply, Transformasi Nasional 50 (TN50) is Vision 2020 delayed another 30 years. Which means the past six years of Najib Abdul Razak's 'transformasi' has actually come to zero, and worse, he needs another 30 years to do it.

By then, he would be older than Dr Mahathir Mohamad and many of us would have become ‘ashes to ashes, dust to dust’.

Yoda: Good one, writer Hazlan Zakaria. You qualify to be Bolehland's very own Orwell.

JusticeNow!: Yes, good one. Hope you won't get a tweet from you-know-who or a police report be made by easily confused people.

VP Biden: There should be an additional Saliva Act where those coming out of the Babi-Exclusion Zone are to undergo a saliva test (like an alcohol breathalyser which will be non-existent by then as everyone only drinks DR1NK) to ensure they have not consumed too much pork to be let into the common ground, as hog breath will confuse some people.

I hope the Act is bumped up in Parliament’s order paper in time. Just my two cents.

Basically: The BN story is a tragi-comedy far more painful to watch than any Shakespearean tearjerker.
