Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy has refuted a Bernama report stating that Satees Muniandy is his "private secretary".

Satees, a member of DAP Socialist Youth and Seberang Perai Municipal councillor, will be questioned at the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters at 3pm today.

This is over his Facebook post on Nov 3, in which he wrote about the Johor sultan's ban on street demonstrations in the state.

"He is not my private or political secretary; I do not have either," Ramasamy told Malaysiakini.

"Do not try to drag DAP or me into this issue, as this was Satees' personal remarks," said the Prai assemblyperson.

Ramasamy said Satees had been reprimanded by the party, and the latter publicly apologised and retracted his remarks on Facebook.

Bernama yesterday wrote that three NGOs lodged three police reports against Satees, the "private secretary of Penang Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy", for having allegedly insulted Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar of Johor on Facebook.

The NGOs are Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah (MJMM), Ikatan Usahawan Kecil dan Sederhana Malaysia (Ikhlas) and Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (Irimm).

The group, led by MJMM president Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah, urged the police and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate and take appropriate action, saying that Satees' action was "unacceptable".

When contacted, Satees said he would take responsibility for his statement and was on his way to Bukit Aman from Penang.

"If I have offended anyone, I apologise," he said, confirming that he had pulled down the statement from his social media.

"Those who politicised this issue for their own personal and political mileage, please do not stoop so low," Satees added.
