MACC urges companies, business entities to empower integrity

Private companies or business entities are advised to empower integrity at their respective organisations by signing the integrity pledge with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki said the move, which is aimed at keeping elements of corruption at bay, was vital to ensure good governance and better quality of service.

"We really hope that more companies, agencies or business entities will accept the call to sign the integrity pledge in a bid to prevent corruption at their respective institutions," he said at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the MACC and Prasarana Malaysia Bhd in Putrajaya today.

The MOU, which was aimed at promoting integrity as a work culture for Prasarana staff, was signed by Prasarana Group president and chief executive officer Azmi Abdul Aziz and MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad.

Also present was Prasarana Group chairperson Ismail Adam.

Azam said the MOU must not be perceived as a mere symbolic rhetoric, but a commitment of the company to ensure and maintain integrity in its operation.

He said the cooperation with Prasarana had also given the MACC the opportunity to spread anti-corruption messages on the billboards and advertisement spaces at all LRT and Monorail stations and in trains, as well as in RapidKL buses.

Meanwhile, Ismail said Prasarana was prepared to offer the platform for MACC to spread integrity-related messages and information at all its venues in a bid to fight corruption.

Through the MOU, Prasarana and MACC would also share their expertise in terms of operation, consultation, dissemination of information and training to promote integrity in Prasarana Group, he added.
