A motion has been filed calling for the House to urge inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar to throw the book at Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos.

Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin (PKR-Bukit Katil) said in the motion that Jamal had made various threats against Bersih, but no action had been taken.

"Because no action has been taken, it shows that Jamal is immune from any legal action," Shamsul said in the motion.

As such, he wants the House to debate on immediate action by the authorities against the red-shirts led by Jamal, and to summon the IGP to Parliament.

The motion was received by the speaker's office today.

Jamal and his red-shirts posse had gained infamy for their harassment of Bersih and groups associated with the free and fair elections coalition.

Most recently, Jamal had in an effort to stop Zuraida Kamaruddin (PKR-Ampang) from promoting Bersih at a mall in Kuala Lumpur, got into a scuffle with the police which resulted in him getting a bloody nose.

Jamal had during the incident said "polis tumbuk saya" (police punched me).

However he has since denied saying that, claiming he instead meant to tell the police that he had been hit.

Jamal also claimed that he had been hit by one of "Zuraida's boys" wearing a Bersih T-shirt.

Zuraida has denied this, saying her group had left the Ampang Point mall by the time the fracas happened.

Jamal had previously been detained overnight by the police over a Facebook posting threatening violence against Bersih.
