Judge visits sites involved in Kevin Morais' murder trial

Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Azman Abdullah, who is presiding over the murder trial of deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais, today visited a swamp area in Subang Jaya, Selangor, where the drum containing the victim's body was disposed of.

The swamp, located adjacent to Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah School Complex, was where the cemented drum containing Kevin Morais' body, which was stuffed in a gunny sack, was found.

Azman, together with the prosecution team led by deputy public prosecutor Saiful Edris Zainuddin, the defence team and the seven accused in the case, were at the swamp area for about 20 minutes.

They had earlier gathered at the Subang Jaya district police headquarters and left the place at about 10am to the swamp, about 10km away.

They also went to two other locations - a workshop at Desa Mentari, Petaling Jaya, where Kevin Morais' body and car were kept, and a food shop at Jalan USJ 1/6C, which is said to be operated by one of the accused.

Meanwhile, Saiful Edris, when met by reporters, said the visit was organised to provide a better understanding on the case to the parties involved.

Six men - G Gunasekaran, 48, R Dinishwaran, 24, AK Thinesh Kumar, 23, M Vishwanath, 26, Nimalan, 23, and Ravi Chandaran, 45, pleaded not guilty to a charge of murdering Kevin Morais between 7am and 8pm between Jalan Dutamas Raya Sentul and No 1 Jalan USJ1/6D, Subang Jaya, on Sept 4, 2015.

Another, Col Dr R Kunaseegaran, 53, the first accused, had pleaded not guilty to a charge of abetting the six men in the murder of Kevin Morais on the same day and at the same time and place.
