Parti Amanah Negara vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa declared his assets in Penang, revealing that his bank balance was below RM,7000.

Mujahid also thanked PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli who mooted the idea, when he said elected representatives and those who held high posts in the government should declare their assets.

At a press conference today, Mujahid said his pay from being a parliamentarian is RM25,700, which is subject to deductions.

Apart from this, his housing loan is RM1,218.03 per month and he contributed RM4,000 to Amanah.

His monthly expenses included RM5,300 for his service centre in Parit Buntar and RM5,000 for his constituency programmes.

He pays monthly hire purchase installments of M2,446.53 for his Honda Accord, RM2,656.53 for a personal two-year loan from Bank Islam, and RM1,500 on his credit card.

Whereas his three bank accounts have a combined total balance of RM6,854.

His assets totalling RM423,000 included a two-storey corner house in Parit Buntar (RM291,000), Honda Accord (RM110,000) and Proton Saga (RM22,000).

Responsibility of elected reps

Mujahid was a former university lecturer before he joined PAS.

The lawmaker said he used to run a publishing company but the enterprise was currently dormant.

He has three children aged 25, 23 and 20, while his wife works as a teacher.

"This is a responsibility of an elected representative as we are elected by the people to serve the people," Mujahid said.

"As a party that aspires to be transparent, this is the first thing we should do, tell the public what we have so that we will not be queried," he added.

Meanwhile, Mujahid also declared his three positions in state government-linked companies. He is a director in Syarikat Usaha Tarbiyah Sdn Bhd, where he holds a non-executive post.

Mujahid is also a director in Yayasan Islam Pulau Pinang and a deputy chairman of the state library. He is not paid for these positions but receives an allowance of RM200 each time he attends a meeting.

"My wife has submitted a public servant asset declaration and she has a house and car.

"I just have to be accountable, transparent for the pay I get as an elected representative. I won't get this pay if I was not elected by the people. With this declaration, people can see how I spend my money. "
