Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu encourages those who have suicidal thoughts not to despair, instead, they can join the party in its struggle to bring change to the country.

"We don't want a repeat of the Oct 27 incident (apparent suicide) due to pressure of living cost.

He was referring to the incident where a man jumped off the Penang Bridge after posting on Facebook that he was doing so because of pressure from the rising cost of living.

"And, if you plan to do so, do not feel despair. Be with us to bring change and topple the wasteful and greedy government," he said when delivering his keynote address at the Amanah Convention today.

He said the indifferent attitude of the Umno-BN government against the youths could be reflective in its 2017 Budget, which encourages the people to keep spending even though they are in debt.

"The economic challenges faced by the youths today is critical. Their hike in wages is nowhere comparable with the hike in the cost of living.

"This is very much different as compared with 1980s or before. Not many of them are able to own a comfortable house as they get low wages," he said.
