DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang may have lost his memory, a MCA leader claimed, saying the Gelang Patah MP continued to pester BN component parties to state their stand on the private member's bill tabled by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

"Is Lim suffering from amnesia, and cannot recall that MCA has in fact declared our stance on this issue numerous times?

"I advise Kit Siang to immediately consult a doctor or seriously acknowledge official responses of BN’s component parties on this matter," said party publicity chairperson Chai Kim Sen in a statement today.

Chai said that it was "ridiculous" for Lim to keep questioning whether MCA, Gerakan and MIC had agreed to BN’s takeover of the amended private member's bill on the Syariah Court (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, also known as Act 355.

"I doubt whether his memory only remains up till the day before, where three days prior to that, on Dec 30, 2016, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai had declared that ‘regardless of any bill tabled by the opposition or Umno, if it is against the constitution, MCA will oppose it to the end’," he said.

Lim’s constant query, argued Chai, was a clear indication that DAP was trying to divert attention from the subject, and shift the blame of its support for PAS in implementing its hudud enactment, to MCA.

"It is shameful for Lim Kit Siang to skirt his responsibility of empowering PAS, and shift the blame to MCA," he said.

Chia said that before asking questions about Act 355, Lim should explain why DAP still worked with PAS in the Selangor state government and why was it still sticking with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and PKR after both parties confirmed that they would work with the Islamic party.

"The present DAP leaders are not only forgetful but also good at playing deaf and mute," concluded Chai.

Both DAP and MCA are engaged in a running war over Hadi's Bill with DAP taking pot shots at MCA and other BN component parties for allowing Umno to railroad the issue through, while the component parties had reminded DAP that it was allied to PAS at the time the Islamic party passed an enactment in Kelantan for hudud implementation.
