DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke has brushed off analyses which said that BN will stay in power because the opposition is in disarray.

"Before the US elections, the Republicans were also divided, but (their candidate) Donald Trump won," Loke said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

The Seremban MP said while he respected the views of the analysts, the one who would determine election results were voters.

He also said that factors that determine the outcome of an election are ever changing.

Loke said this when asked to respond to analyses, including by the Financial Times Confidential Research, that a divided opposition would result in a BN victory.

The accuracy of pundits has been called to question after Trump's victory last year.

In the lead up to the US polls, analysts had predicted a win for Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton.

However, while Clinton did win the popular vote, Trump won enough electoral college votes to clinch the victory.

Is opposition really divided?

Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah said the coalition would accept the analyses at face value, and take from that what improvements can be made.

However, he questioned whether the opposition was really divided.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has said that elections will be held soon, though an exact date has yet to be announced.

The elections are currently expected to be dominated by three corner fights between BN, Harapan, and PAS.

Harapan's PKR and their ally Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) are trying to get PAS to agree to straight fights against BN.

However, the situation is complicated, with PAS refusing to work with its splinter Amanah, which makes up part of Harapan.

PAS also refuses to work with DAP, which it blames for the split in the Islamist party.
