Speakers at a ceramah targeting Salor state assemblyperson Husam Musa last night received a rude shock when the man himself turned up uninvited and sat down beside them on the stage.

The ceramah, held at Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV in Kota Bharu, was titled: "Husam lari dari debat baiah" (Husam runs away from debate on religious oath).

Clad in a purple shirt, Husam strolled to the stage and sat there calmly while Keterah PAS chief Wan Ismail Wan Jusoh was speaking.

Wan Ismail had said that religious oaths are contained in Arabic scriptures and questioned whether Husam could debate in Arabic.

"Husam studied at Maktab Sultan Ismail. Does he understand Arabic? How is he going to debate with Ustaz Nassuruddin?" he said.

Husam had previously challenged Kelantan exco member Mohd Nassuruddin Daud to a debate on the religious oath, which is compulsory for all PAS elected representatives.

According to a video recording uploaded by Kelantan Parti Amanah Negara on Facebook, Husam was seated on the stage for around 20 minutes before the tension boiled over.

The video showed some angry attendees in the ceramah approaching the stage, apparently wanting to confront Husam while others tried to restrain them.

This prompted PAS' Unit Amal to quickly surround the stage to prevent the crowd from storming the area.

Husam left the scene as it turned chaotic.

Taking to Facebook later, Husam said he had hoped for an actual debate.

He said he had asked for permission to speak at the ceramah as he was being attacked.

"But the (emcee) said Nassuruddin did not allow it," he added.

Husam said he was prepared to debate Nassuruddin at any time and if he had been given the chance that night, there would have been a "mini debate".

Husam, once a protege of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, was sacked from the party for his criticism of the PAS-led Kelantan government.

After his sacking, Husam joined PAS splinter party Parti Amanah Negara.

PAS had sought to paint Husam as a traitor who breached his religious oath, which bans the party's elected representatives from switching parties.

However, Husam pointed out that he was kicked out of the party and did not leave PAS out of his own volition.
