Tickets sales for the film 'Power Rangers' resumed today after being suspended amid fears that the film will not meet censorship guidelines.

The film, about five teenagers who develop superpowers, features a lesbian character as one of the Power Rangers.

"Power Rangers Movie is back online! Go buy your tickets now!" Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) said on its Facebook page.

When contacted, TGV Cinemas head of marketing services Celeste Koay said the Film Censorship Board (LPF) gave the cinemas approval the screen the movie. 

"They give us green light, no censor(ship)," she told Malaysiakini. 

"The movie will be shown tomorrow at GSC, TGV and all cinemas in 34 locations," she said, adding the cinema will screen a special premiere for its members. 

News portal Malaysia Outlook reported that TGV had halted its advance ticket sales for the upcoming movie 'Power Rangers', which was slated to open tomorrow.

'Power Rangers' director Dean Israelite was reported as saying that the character of the Yellow Ranger will question her sexuality in the film.

The LPF recently came under fire after the screening of Disney fairytale 'Beauty and the Beast' was postponed from its original date of March 16, for further scrutiny over a brief "gay moment" of one of the characters in the film. 

Following widespread backlash and an appeal by Disney Malaysia, it was reported that the film will be screened after all, on March 30, without any cuts.
