Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari has provided an explanation to DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Penang DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow regarding the photographs implicating him.

"Since this a personal attack against Zairil, he has asked that he handle the matter for the time being," said Chow in a brief media statement.

The photos, which have been circulating on social media, show a man resembling Zairil sharing an intimate moment with a woman who looks like DAP Youth's Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.

This is not the first time such materials have surfaced implicating the duo.

Zairil has dismissed the photographs as fake, whereas Dyana linked it to the upcoming general election.

Yesterday, Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming told Malaysiakini that he would leave it to the party’s top leadership to decide on Dyana’s candidacy in the next general election.

In 2014, Dyana contested in the Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election, but was defeated by Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong.
