PAS open to cooperation, with conditions attached
MUKTAMAR | PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin said his party has not closed its doors on those who wish to cooperate with the party.
"If DAP or Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), or any other party, is willing to comply with our conditions, we can still cooperate.
"We are still open to that," Hashim told reporters after attending the PAS Muslimat muktamar in Alor Setar today.
Hashim said that PAS' condition was any political cooperation must premised on the notion that "Islam must lead".
This does not mean that PAS leaders want to be in the position of power, he said.
"We just want the movement to be led by anyone who puts Islam first.
"We feel that Malaysia can only be led by the implementation of Islamic principles and jurisdiction," he added.
Setting conditions for cooperation was necessary in view of bad past experiences, Hashim said.
Ultimately, any political cooperation involving PAS must benefit the people.
"We do not feel that we are the boss, but that we are slaves to the people. Those who feel they are slaves will not betray their bosses, who are the rakyat, who want security, prosperity, peace and justice.
"These have been violated and we feel PAS can rectify the situation," Hashim added.
