MCA, minorities can’t play the racial game any more

YOURSAY | ‘Eventually, their numbers would become insignificant and they would end up becoming irrelevant.’

MCA boss admits Chinese community, gov't distrust each other

Dont Just Talk: MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, are you asking the Chinese community to back MO1 (Malaysian Official 1), who was caught with US$681 million in his personal bank accounts, along with another RM42 million, which he claimed he did not know where it came from.

It is not that we love DAP or Pakatan Harapan more since we are apolitical, but we cannot accept an allegedly rotten fish head as leader of the country because the sickness has already spread to the body and tail.

Kamikasi: My sympathy to Liow and MCA. At the moment, they are torn between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Despite the massive contribution to the development of this country, poor outstanding Chinese students are denied their rights for further education.

The majority of the Chinese have to break their backs to get licence or contracts from the government. Each day right-wing NGOs insult the Chinese and other non-Malays. So MCA, you want the Chinese to support the government?

Clever Voter: Each time MCA says something on behalf of the Chinese community, it opens up a fresh wound.

Umno has left the middle ground and shifted its ideology to be closer to PAS. MCA has lost its relevance because the community it claims to represent has other priorities beyond handouts and scholarships.

MCA is incapable of influencing even the lowest hierarchy of Umno. The accomplishment of the community has been erased.

One example is for Liow to visit the museum in Ipoh. There is not even a single mention of Chinese contribution to the tin industry in Perak.

Recent attacks on vernacular schools and the Christian community has left MCA wanting. Attacking DAP is counter-productive. To be fair, they do not represent a single community.

It’s about time the party consider an early retirement - to save face rather than to be humiliated once again at the general election.

Fairman: Liow, you better look for a safe seat. Bentong will be a disaster for you. No number of regular visits to your ‘kawasan’ (constituency) will ensure your victory.

Your former MCA boss used to say the fish rots from the head. As long as you have an allegedly rotten leader in the cabinet and all you fellows pretend everything is alright, you will be wondering what has hit you.

Liow, no amount of gerrymandering or advance postal ballots will save you this time. You decide whether you want to save one man or the nation and its people.

Anonymous #40538199: It would be disaster for the minority communities to continue to play race or religion-based politics.

Eventually, their numbers would become insignificant and they would be ended up becoming irrelevant. The only way out is to support political parties that uphold the principles of rule of law or to support a two-party system that allows a non-partisan civil service to thrive.

In that way, fundamental or universal rights of all citizens would be better protected.

Suspended FGV CEO says he tried to stop 'ridiculous' investments

Clever Voter: Since its corporatisation, Felda Global Ventures (FGV) continues to be treated as a cash cow for the ruling establishment.

Despite the governance requirements, habits die hard. Board decision apparently still comes from party leaders.

In their language, FGV is constructed to generate cash for the party and not dividend for the shareholders. This has to stop for the sake for ‘wealth’-being of the nation.

Guna Otak: Be strong, Zakaria. Reading an article like this, I have no doubt as to who is right and who is wrong in the management of FGV.

Any people with a bit of sense can easily smell the stench of mismanagement by those people - the very same people who now puts the whole country in a mess, starting with 1MDB.

Anonymous 278451459939581: Indeed, Zakaria is a rare one. He sounds like he is competent, honest and interested in the plight of Felda - not a good formula for survival but good on you for exposing the scandals.

Rubystar_4037: Zakaria is a towering Malay, a straight shooter, squeaky clean and from a family of Felda planters.

The battle he is fighting is a very tough one as most of the board of directors are allegedly in it for easy money.

But Zakaria will prevail, if not in FGV, then in other corporations. He will be a shining example of what it meant to be bumiputera without the crutches former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad has given to them for as long as he lives.

Goldee: When Zakaria was appointed as the CEO, the government praised him that he is the right candidate for he knows the hardships of the settlers because his father is a settler himself.

The only way to save Felda is to vote Pakatan Harapan into Putrajaya.

Anonymous #21828131: Slowly but surely the disease has spread to Felda. Not that we did not expect it to be coming soon.

It goes to show how the rot is setting in nicely before GE14. It goes to show how the opposition had predicted this to happen and this is for real.

But the cash-rich ‘king’ would try to overturn things. What to do? Simple-minded folks can only see cash. They won’t be able to see the allegedly rotten head.
