The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested an ex-aide to a former Felda chairperson, according to chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad.

He said this was related to MACC's investigation into Felda Investment Corporation's (FIC) purchase of a hotel in Kuching.

"On FIC's (probe), this morning we made another arrest and we will apply to have this person remanded in the evening.

"This person is the ex-special officer to a former Felda chairperson," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Although Dzulkifli did not mention names, it is believed that the person arrested was the former aide to Isa Samad, whose Felda chairperson's term ended in January 2017.

Subsequently, he resigned as FGV chairperson on June 19.

Isa was later appointed as Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) acting chief.

On July 28, Dzulkifli had ordered for investigations on the acquisition of the Kuching hotel which was suspected to have been bought at a price much higher than market rate.

Over the next two days, the MACC arrested four individuals in connection with the probe.

Meanwhile, Dzulkifli said the MACC will set up a special task force to study the first series of the 2016 Auditor-General's Report which was tabled in Parliament yesterday.

"We are looking into the report closely and we have identified few issues that we will (highlight) in a press statement later.

"We have set up a special task force to probe and take follow-up action, if necessary, on any (possible) corruption and abuse of power.

"I promise, we will take appropriate action and base on my cursory look (at the audit report). There are issues for us to look into closely and take further action," he added.
