Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar should look in the mirror first before throwing accusations of corruption and abuse of power at the Selangor state government.

Shuhaimi Shafie, the political secretary to Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, said Noh should explain the various issues that cropped up during his time as a federal minister.

“What happened to the Subur program (Rice Subsidies for the Rakyat Program)? Where is the rice now?

“What is the explanation for the 30 acres of land he owned, which he bought (allegedly below market price) in Tanjong Karang, which was brought up in the last Dewan Negeri?

“And also the issue of the misappropriation of the rakyat’s money by NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) while Noh was the Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister?” Shuhaimi asked in a statement today.

These are all questions Noh should answer, instead of trying so “desperately” to damage the image of the PKR-led Selangor government, he said.

All the things Umno has tried to portray as corruption in Selangor, he explained, are actually the state government’s efforts to solve issues left behind by the previous BN state government, according to the law and guidelines set by the courts.

“Despite the accusations, the state government remains open to investigations by authorities, specifically the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

“It is proven that not a single politician from the Selangor ruling coalition has been charged with corruption or misappropriation over accusations thrown their way.

“There are only baseless and false allegations which had not been brought before the courts,” Shuhaimi said.

What actually happened is that the Selangor government has maintained its integrity as early as 2013 by signing an integrity pact and this is proven through its actions, he added.

As a result, he said, the state’s funds had increased and this wealth is shared with the rakyat through programs and initiatives.

“Unfortunately for Selangor Umno, led by Noh, who until today, has failed to prove any claims and accusations against the menteri besar and the Selangor government.

“He is only following a script prepared by someone else to continue trying to damage the state government’s image today,” Shuhaimi said.
