Newly minted inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun has followed the footsteps of his predecessor by setting up an official Twitter account today.

This follows the setting up of his official Facebook page two days ago.

So far, Fuzi has uploaded photographs of his activities and news clippings - much like the typical mundane content found on the social media accounts of many top civil servants.

Fuzi has much catching up to do with his predecessor, Khalid Abu Bakar, who amassed 122,000 followers on Twitter and 68,000 followers on Facebook at the time of writing.

Much of Khalid's popularity had to do with the fact that many of his social media posts had a personal touch and reflected his colourful personality.

This made his Twitter handle - @KBAB51 - a household name in Twitter-jaya.

He would tweet words of encouragement to his men, usually accompanied with the #GoPDRMgo hashtag.

Then there were times where he would engage with other social media users, including his critics.

However, Khalid is best known for "issuing instructions" to the police through Twitter on allegedly offensive social media posts, earning him the nickname "Twitter police."

So, will Fuzi use social media in a similar fashion?

Will we have a reincarnation of the "Twitter police"? Perhaps only time will tell.
