S'GOR DUN | Selangor state assembly speaker Hannah Yeoh has denied a Bernama report which claimed that she had to cut short the morning sitting after an exco created an uproar with his “bodoh” (stupid) remark.

Taking to Twitter, Yeoh said: “It wasn't cut short. It was (a) lunch break at noon according to our Standing Orders.”

Earlier, Bernama reported that the remark by state investment, industry, trade and transportation committee chairperson Teng Chang Khim drew the ire of Halimaton Saadiah Bohan (BN-Kota Damansara) who was stressing a point during debate on the Selangor Budget 2018.

Halimaton had the support of assemblyperson Sulaiman Abdul Razak (BN-Permatang) and Abdul Shukor Idrus (BN-Kuang), who urged Teng to withdraw the disrespectful remark.

Teng refused to withdraw the remark and said that he was not aiming it at anybody in particular and this prompted Abdul Shukor to cynically say if that was the case, then anybody can use the remark.

This is the second time Teng used such a remark when a BN assemblyperson was speaking in the state assembly after the sitting in November last year.
