Perak Bersatu members quit over ‘chicken without head’ situation in party

Batu Gajah Bersatu pro tem chief Mohd Shirin Adenan today announced that he is quitting the party, along with the division's 18 committee members.

Mohd Shirin said they took the decision because they were disappointed with the leadership of Perak Bersatu led by Ahmad Faizal Azumu, and as a sign of protest to get the central leadership to pay attention to what was going on the state division.

"The appointment of Ahmad Faizal Azumu as Perak Bersatu chairman really opened our eyes as to what Bersatu stands for.

"He is a greenhorn, and has put Perak Bersatu in a chicken without head situation,” he told a press conference at the party’s office here today.

He said another issue that drove them to take the drastic action was the Registrar of Societies chiding the party for not registering its youth wing Angkatan Bersatu Anak Muda, or Armada.

“This is serious as it can lead to the de-registration of the party,” he said, adding that they did not want to be in a party that is in “such a mess.”
