A driver for ride-hailing service Grab claims he was attacked by a female athlete in Subang Jaya yesterday.

Wayne Chow Wai Loon alleged that the athlete had punched him in the right eye after he reportedly dropped them off at the wrong house on the same street.

Taking to Facebook, Chow said that the incident began when he picked up the athlete and her mother at Sunway Pyramid.

He stated that the women had hit the back of his car after he failed to notice them, causing a dent.

He also claimed that when he confronted the women, he was told that he was "a rude driver".

However, he said that he apologised after the women threatened to lodge a report against him.

The situation reportedly turned tense again when Chow dropped the women off in Subang Jaya but got the wrong house address.

"I parked at number 58 - apparently they were at number 56 - because I wasn't sure which one was their house because they did not tell me," he said.

He said the women scolded him and the daughter then threw RM10 at him to pay for the RM8 ride.

The women then got out of the car and reportedly took out a mobile phone to take pictures of him.

Chow said he responded in a like manner, which is when the attack occurred.

"All of a sudden the daughter punched me in the right eye!" he claimed.

Oriental Daily cited police sources as saying that the athlete was a member of the national women's futsal team.

A Facebook page under the athlete's name had posted a handwritten public apology to Chow, saying it was a "small misunderstanding on both sides."

Malaysiakini is unable to verify if this account belongs to the athlete.

Subang Jaya district police chief Mohammad Azlin Sadari said both sides had lodged a police report over the matter.

However, he said that police will not be launching an investigation.

"This appears to be a misunderstanding, and the fight did not have any intent to cause injury.

"The driver wanted to take a photo of the passenger and was blocked causing the driver's eye to be hit," Mohammad Azlin said in a statement.
