Perlis Raja Muda says racial harmony crucial to country’s success

Racial harmony, as well as tolerance and understanding in Malaysia’s multiracial society, is the recipe for the country’s success and should be upheld, said the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is also Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) president, also said the spirit of patriotism should be instilled among Malaysia’s multiracial society for harmonious living.

“For example, in neighbouring Thailand, the harmony among the people transcends religion and culture,” he said after handing over MAIPs’ donations to Sekolah Agama (Maktab) 25 representative, Thanarat Watcharapisud, in Bangkok yesterday.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also congratulated the Dakwah Centre of One Centre Malaysia, which is managed by MAIPs, for organising various programmes aimed at enhancing racial unity and harmony – with the latest the “Hari Masjid Terbuka” (Mosque Open Day) at the Al-Hussein Mosque in Kuala Perlis.

The programme, which received positive response from the public, would be expanded as an effort to foster unity and racial harmony, he said.

Meanwhile, the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, wished Merry Christmas to all those celebrating the occasion today, and hoped that the spirit of love, mutual respect, tolerance and unity among the people in the state would always be enhanced.
