The remark by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that the country will be destroyed should there be a change of government, is undemocratic, said Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

The PAS deputy president was quoted as saying in Harakah Daily that the democracy Malaysia has practised all these years, will ensure such occurrences will never happen.

This is evident in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and locally, in Kelantan, Terengganu and Selangor, he added.

"Chaos is often created by the losing party and not by the one that has won.

"In the Malaysian context, the opposition is used to losing and there have not been any chaos," Tuan Ibrahim said.

Thus, he questioned whether Najib's remark implied that his party Umno, and BN, would create a ruckus should the ruling coalition lose in the upcoming general election.

As for PAS, it is a party that loved peace, and national harmony, and would ensure a smooth transition of power, he added.

Najib (photo) had in his recent speech in Pensiangan, Sabah, said the people should not take the country's peace and stability for granted, and resort to changing the ruling government.

If a "mistake" like that was done, then the country would be destroyed, he had said.

Tuan Ibrahim also rubbished Najib's remark in the same speech that the opposition was only good at making empty promises, for the sake of winning the election.

"The rakyat can witness that many of the unkept promises are from BN, and not the opposition. For example, during every by-election, there will be many promises of projects, but after the election is over, nothing will happen," he said.

According to him, the PAS manifesto was drafted after a thorough study was made and it was very much rooted in reality, rather than a mere populist one.
